This edition takes account of over 40 new statutory instruments since the last edition was published in 1996 and includes some important new cases and new policy guidance following the change of government. The most important development is the new European Directive on Environmental Assessment which comes into force in March. This has major implications for local planning authorities and the topic is exmained in detail within a new chapter in the book.
