Peptide Hormone Secretion
Synopsis
These two volumes describe methods especially relevant to the study of polypeptide hormones, but equally applicable to regulatory peptides in other fields, including neurobiology, vascular biology, immunology, growth control, and developmental biology. The contributors provide experimental protocols wherever possible, and also present underlying principles. Their aim is to establish guidelines for those needing to adopt specific protocols for use in different systems. The first volume focuses on methods for the purification, characterization, localization, and quantitation of hormones and their receptors. Volume two covers topics relating to the biosynthesis, processing and secretion of polypeptides, and the major signalling systems which mediate hormone action, including cyclic nucleotides, inositol phosphates, diacylglycerol, calcium and tyrosyl kinases. These two volumes may also be purchased separately.
