Synopsis

The Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP/Autonomous Operator of Parisian Transports) is the major transit operator responsible for public transportation in Paris and its surroundings. The RATP Bus Centre in Thiais controls all the bus lines to the south and east of Paris. This administrative centre gathers several functions on the same site. Besides a post of reassured control to pilot the traffic of three hundred buses, its vocation is to receive twenty-four hours on twenty-four personnel of service and drivers to the number of 800. The RATP Bus Centre was designed by architect Emmanuel Combarel Dominique Marrec, ECDM. Both are ardent supporters of contextual architecture, taking structure, restrictions linked to function and the socio-cultural concerns of the surroundings into account.
