Synopsis

Hogarth Press (London), 1925. One of an estimated 2,000 copies in the first issue, and with the incredibly scarce dust jacket this volume is a true piece of literary history. Woolf's iconic modernist narrative was highly influential, and she even finds the time to mention a lovely old bookshop called Hatchards in the opening scene. A mild spine lean present, with typical foxing to edges and prelims but otherwise internally clean. Jacket is complete with professional repairs to a closed tear on back panel with reinforcement at spine ends. Some light wear but overall, a stunning example of the Vanessa Bell designed jacket of which only a handful still remain intact. One of the most prized first editions in modern book collecting.
