Mapping the Nation for 2020 is the annual book of GIS success stories in federal government. This book contains examples of federal agencies using GIS effectively to make decisions. The book is divided into various government sectors (health, public safety, national security, environment, etc.) to demonstrate how GIS can be applied to a multitude of tasks and missions.

The 2020 edition features a flip landscape format: The first half of the book, GIS - The Intelligent Nervous System for Government, includes the first side of the book. The second half, What's Next for GIS in Government, includes the remainder of the book and can be opened by flipping the book over.
