Synopsis

Using a child-centred approach, this book aims to empower the instructor to challenge students to improve their movement through manipulation of the practice environment and the sequencing of their movements into routines with partners, in threes or small groups to develop co-operation and teamwork. It uses five movement categories (rolling, jumping, balancing, vaulting and hanging/climbing) and a total of 70 skills divided into 16 themes without those five movement categories to teach gymnastics. A three-step process is used of practicing, sequencing and performing. Photocopiable task cards are included so that students can select task cards and develop their own routines. No special equipment is required.
