Synopsis

In this book, the story behind the life and political career of one of Rome's greatest leaders is explored. The book opens with an overview of life in the Roman Empire in 100 BC. We follow the life of Caesar from his early days growing up in Rome to his career in the senate, as a high priest, to consul and finally, dictator. Caesar conquers Gaul and occupies Alexandria in Egypt. This book looks at the relationship between Caesar and Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt; Caesar's marriages and his children; and his eventual murder by Brutus and Cassius. It is a gripping, true-life drama set against the backdrop of life in ancient Rome.
