The author also stresses total system integration and co-ordination, and provides information on how to assess individual security needs so as to choose an appropriate intrusion detection system. In the part on IDS Applications the author designs an intrusion detection system for a nuclear power plant, a public school complex and a high-rise office building, and he emphasizes a different design aspect in each system.
