Interpreting Nairobi: The Cultural Study of Built Forms

Nairobi is founded in 1899. It is characterised by the encounter of African, Asian and European communities. Anja Kervanto Nevanlinna traces nine decades of the history of its urban and dwelling forms. The built forms of Nairobi are analysed as participants in processes incorporating geographical, economic, political, cultural, and anthropological aspects.
