Fishamble Firsts

"Fishamble: The New Play Company" produces first plays by new playwrights as part of its "Fishamble Firsts" initiative. This anthology, published during the Company's twentieth birthday year in 2008, is intended as a record and celebration of first plays produced by Fishamble since 2002. The playwrights represented here have created a selection of first plays that are as innovative and imaginative as they are diverse. The anthology includes five full length plays, as well as a small selection of short first plays by new playwrights which were part of Fishamble's multi-writer productions, "Shorts" (2003), "She Was Wearing A..." (2005), and "Whereabouts" (2006). The full length plays included are "The Buddhist of Castleknock" by Jim O'Hanlon, "Still" by Rosalind Haslett, "Monged" by Gary Duggan, "The Gist of It" by Rodney Lee and "Noah and the Flower Tower" by Sean McLoughlin.
