Findings: The Jewelry of Ramona Solberg
Synopsis
Ramona Solberg works in the field of fine-art jewellery, turning buttons, callipers, beads, pebbles and her trademark dominoes into boldly scaled works of wearable art. Some of her necklaces (32 in all) are illustrated in colour in this book. Vicki Halper sets Solberg's work in the context of her life as an artist, teacher and traveller, and explores the creative links between Solberg and her students and fellow jewellers. She chronicles Solberg's career from her student days, through her tenure as professor at the University of Washington, to her active and productive recent years, and explores the community of Pacific Northwest artists with whom she is associated: Laurie Hall, Ron Hon, Kiff Slemmons and Nancy Worden.
