Exploring the Digital Domain: An Introduction to Computing with Multimedia and Networking

This volume teaches the skills needed to understand, create, work, and communicate using digital media and networks. Beginning with an introduction to computer hardware and software, the text goes on to provide a concept-based overview of word processors, databases and spreadsheets that lays the foundation for using any suite of commercial applications. The book then explores the skills and knowledge needed to create digital graphics, scan and process images, and sample and edit digital video, before turning to a five-chapter section on data communications networks, data compression, LANs, the Internet, and the World Wide Web.
