Ethnicity in Hellenistic Egypt
Synopsis
The series "Studies in Hellenistic Civilization" is published for the Danish Research Council for the Humanities. This third volume deals with the confrontation and co-operation between the many different ethnical groups who were settled in Egypt during the rule of the Ptolemaeic Kingdom (about 300-30 BC). The Jews are taken as an example and are described in more detail, but their relationship to other groups of emigrants (Greeks, Persians and Macedonians) is also examined.
