Murder. A body hidden in the bushes. The victim strangled, all his possessions laid reverentially around him. A small gold cross inserted in his mouth.

Twenty years before, Harry Whistler had abandoned his family. He returned years later living amongst the homeless in the small market town of Fordway. Will Harry be the next victim? Or is he the murderer?

Harry's daughter starts an online journal, hoping to make sense of her father's desertion. Her three brothers add to the journal, the entries soon running parallel to the murders.

Will the killer be caught before the tally of murders increases?
