DICKIE continues the Feeney family story told in A LONG WAY FROM HEAVEN, FOR MY BROTHER'S SINS and ERIN'S CHILD. Supposedly dying a hero's death in a tragic fire in 1874, Richard William Feeney - 'Dickie' to one and all - secretly escaped the flames and fled to America where he prospered. Now, twenty six years later, he is back in New York. . . in the bosom of his astonished family. But the past has a way of catching up, and Dickie's day of reckoning around the corner. When Mr Rufforth of the Yorkshire Insurance Company recognises Dickie as the son who supposedly died, he is faced with a trial and possible imprisonment.
