Cross Currents

With this volume Yale University Press assumes publication of an annual that, since it originated in 1982, has addressed a wide variety of topics pertinent to the literature, culture and history of countries stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Each issue contains poetry, prose, interviews and essays, as well as accompanying illustrations, all testifying to the cultural uniqueness and contemporary relevance of Central Europe. This volume includes an article by Konrad Weiss on "skinheads and faschos in East Germany"; Peter Demetz' "second conversation with Rene Wellek"; Czeslaw Molosz on Polish poetry; and Frank Silbajoris' "Lithuania: a question of identity".
