Eliza used to have six brothers - now five are gone. According to her stepmother, they drowned tragically at sea. But Eliza is certain that they are still out there, somewhere, in desperate need of her help. And, although she has no proof, she is also convinced that her stepmother had something to do with their disappearance.

To find them, Eliza escapes from home with the one brother she has left: Cricket. He is a scaredy-cat, a cry-baby and a bit of a burden, but he is all Eliza has. Together, they begin the search for their lost brothers. They journey to faraway lands and encounter unimaginable dangers. But even as everything goes wrong, they never give up hope...
