Construction & Design Manual: Townhouses

For ten years the building typology of the townhouse has played a central role in the debate over housing provision and urban development in Germany and in many other European cities. This new addition to the series of Construction and Design Manuals assesses political strategies, theoretical concepts and considers, in particular, the origins of townhouse architecture in Berlin. 50 realised projects with detailed scale plans and photography are studied in context from the viewpoint of town planning. The author, Hans Stimmann, is the former director of Urban Development in Berlin.
