Chirality and the Solid Surface

Many chemical products have stereoselective activity. Therefore, chirality has become a topic of central importance in chemistry as well as a fundamental direction in pharmaceutical research, activity. Because one enantiomer may present the desired activity while the other may be toxic, separation of enantiomers is particularly important. This volume offers an interdisciplinary overview of current research on chirality pertaining to molecules interacting at and with the solid surface. Prominent leaders in the field explore advances in surface science and the applications of new phenomena including the fabrication of biochemical sensors, nonlinear optical materials, and nanotubes.
