Built Different
Synopsis
Built Different is an official Liverpool FC publication featuring a selection of new and favourite poems written by wordsmith, spoken artist and passionate Liverpool FC fan Joseph Roberts.
"This City, this Club, connects all of us" - Excitement, elation, heartache, disappointment: a passionate football fan can feel any, or all, of these within a single match. That is the power of the so-called Beautiful Game - it can unite thousands of people from different walks of life in a collective moment of joy, hope, frustration, loss, and, sometimes even, victory.
It's a lifestyle Liver bird Joseph Roberts knows all too well - and one he explores in his work as an award-winning poet and spoken word artist.
Joseph was just 20 when he performed his first major show to a crowd of 1,500 people in Liverpool city centre. In the few years since, he's become a Liverpool sensation, thanks to his natural accent, witty turns of phrase, down-to-earth delivery, grassroots subject matters and passion for the club.
His work has tackled difficult issues, such as racism in football and the Hillsborough disaster, as well as lighter funnier subjects, such as the ups and downs of being a lifelong Red and proper way to use "Scouse slang".
