The volumes in this established Islands series have a stronger reference value than most previously published works on islands. Special care is taken to capture the island atmosphere and to deal with those aspects of life that are different on an island. Subjects such as geology and histroy are covered in detail and a close look is taken at the people, economy. livelihood and communications of each island, bearing in mind the difficulties of situation and climate. The approach is businesslike and realistic and the books contain much information not hitherto available. All are illustrated with photographs, maps and line illustrations.
