Fabien Raes is no stranger in artistic circles. After a short career as a painter, he quickly plunged into his real passion: photography. His photo reportages on South Africa, South America, Latin America, Africa and China were published in magazines all over the world. But he also focused on people: he photographed several international film stars at the film festivals of Cannes and Brussels, and worked as a fashion photographer for magazines such as Marie-Claire and Elle. Apart from that, he films and photographs underwater births for Aquanatal in Ostend. After his successful book on Cuba, Fabien Raes has made a new and marvelous book of photographs on the life and people of Beijing.
