Beginning with Empathy - Workshop Pack

This package consists of ten self-learning handbooks and one guide for facilitators. The handbook presents empathy as a key element in communicating with and helping others, both patients and colleagues. It contains exercises in awareness (being, feeling) and communicating (talking, empathy) which are self-learning exercises. Exercises and theory follow each other and it is envisaged that those who have worked though this handbook will then join a group, led by a facilitator, which will go over the exercises and thus ground the learning in a practical way. The facilitator's guide elaborates on each exercise, making suggestions and giving systematic guidelines. The handbooks are also available individually as are the facilitator's guide. It is designed for nurses - student and qualified; allied health personnel; and doctors - student and qualified.
