Basic Seamanship

This title is intended for any person interested in a seafaring profession either in the Royal Navy, the Merchant Navy or the fishing fleets. It should also be of interest to yachtsmen. Regulations are mentioned, but with the exception of the Rule of the Road, they are not quoted in full. As the interest in yachting for plesure has increased, so recruitment for the sea has declined. Inititatives by the Government and other bodies are designed to halt this decline. This book introduces the basic of seamanship whilst aiming to point the reader in the direction he or she should go if they are to conform to regulations and codes of practice.
