Basic Marc: Incorporating Format Integration and AV Items
Synopsis
Intended to teach users the USMARC bibliographic format, this text cites real-life examples that might be encountered in a school or small to medium-sized public library. It is structured tag-by-tag, with the AACR2R for each tage indicated where appropriate, along with possible local policy implications. Emphasis is placed on cataloguing in an automated environment, using the power of the computer for information access. After working with the book, users should be able to create not just serviceable records, but records that are detailed, accurate and thorough. This revision was necssitated by the adoption of Format Integration. Audiovisual materials, often a challenge to cataloguers, have also been added to the publication.
