Date: Thursday 3 October 2019
Location: Hatchards St Pancras
It’s another brilliant day for book lovers as today is the day that the second part of Philip Pullman’s series The Book of Dust arrives at Hatchards!
In the second volume Lyra and her dæmon Pantalaimon are forced to navigate their relationship in a way they could never have imagined, as they are drawn into the complex and dangerous factions a world that they had no idea existed. Pulled along on his own journey too is Malcolm; once a boy with a boat and a mission to save a baby from the flood, now a man with a strong sense of duty and a desire to do what is right.
The world is at once familiar and extraordinary as they travel far beyond the edges of Oxford, across Europe and into Asia, in search for what is lost – a city haunted by dæmons, a secret at the heart of a desert, and the mystery of the elusive Dust.
If you have pre-ordered The Secret Commonwealth (at either Hatchards Piccadilly and St Pancras) and come to collect your book today, 3rd October, we will have a celebratory ‘magic mocktail’ awaiting you!
Then, to keep the celebrations going, on Thursday 10th October, 6-7pm at Hatchards St Pancras, we have The Book of Dust Book Club – a chance to discuss the novel we’ll all have been reading avidly over the previous week!
(See separate event listing below for Book Club tickets.)
