Lucian Freud: The Artist as a Young Man – with William Feaver and Frances Spalding

Date: Thursday 26 September 2019
Location: Hatchards Piccadilly

Join us this evening to discuss the early life of artist Lucian Freud with one of our greatest art critics and curators William Feaver.

Lucian Freud was ferociously private, yet he spoke every week for decades to his close confidante and collaborator William Feaver – about painting and the art world, but also about his life and loves.

Celebrating publication of Youth, the first in a two-part biography of the artist, we are thrilled to welcome William Feaver to Hatchards this evening for a discussion of Lucian Freud’s early years: from Weimar Berlin and his escape from Nazi Germany, to life at art school and mixing with asristocracy and criminals in the haunts of Soho.

William will be in conversation with author and art-writer Frances Spalding.

It’ll be a night to remember!

£10 tickets are available in the shop and online here
