A Country House Party – with Adrian Tinniswood and Judith Mackrell
Wednesday 6th November, 6.30pm
Welcome to a glorious journey through the golden age of the country house party!
Our host this evening is the celebrated historian Adrian Tinniswood.
In conversation with arts critic and biographer Judith Mackrell (her most recent book is “The Unfinished Palazzo”), Adrian will trace the evolution of this quintessentially British pastime from debauched royal tours to the flamboyant excess of the Bright Young Things.
With a Jazz Age industrialist, the bibulous earl and the off-duty politician in attendance and perhaps a moated manor house or ornate Palladian villa as its setting – our host will launch us into weekending etiquette and reveal the hidden lives of celebrity guests, from Nancy Astor to Winston Churchill.
£10 tickets are available in the shop or on-line here
