Charles II: Art & Power by Royal Collection

After the austerity of the Cromwellian period 1660 represented a restoration of the arts as well as the monarchy. The Crown Jewels, exquisite silver-gilt furniture, sumptuous tapestries and fine paintings, many of them originally belonging to Charles I, graced the court and are now on show at the Royal Collection. With over four hundred colour illustrations this is an excellent catalogue to a remarkable exhibition.
