Currant Bread

'Currant Bread', a boyhood evacuee memoir. 1939. This is the story of a 7 year old boy, who was evacuated in 1939 to live with total strangers, in a small village in rural Staffordshire, England, near the small country town of Uttoxeter. Sadly, his lot was not to be a happy one. But it is told with an ironic sense of humour too. A sense of humour that was actually fashioned by his trials and tribulations of this traumatic experience. So travel with him, via Hitler's bombs, from London to Staffordshire, to his new life with strangers. He was not to see his family again, for 7 years. His Dad, never again.
