The Society was founded in 1901 to promote greater knowledge and understanding of central Asia and surrounding countries. With the passage of time, the area has been extended to include the whole of Asia, from the Middle East to Japan. The Journal has been published continuously since 1914 and has established an enviable reputation for its range of coverage both in articles and reviews.
