With a unique visual style that uses drawing as a tool to address the tragic banality of historical images, documents, and texts, Fernando Bryce (b. 1965) is one of the most important South American artists working today. Armed with only pen and ink, Bryce examines how visual and written media create and convey a perception of a country, a people, or an historical event through reproducing - by hand - entire archives of material, from declassified government documents to tourist and holiday brochures.
