BRITONS TO ARMS POSTER
'Britons to Arms!' This was the call on the lips of every patriotic inhabitant of these isles as the threat from Napoleon Bonaparte loomed large from across the Channel. The French Emperor may have conquered and cowed the continent but he could never subjugate the proud men and women of Great Britain. John Hatchard, being a loyal and upstanding subject of His Majesty King George III, decided to do his bit for the cause. He thus produced a poster exhorting his fellow countrymen to do their utmost to resist the horrors of a French invasion. Two hundred years later relations between the two countries have thankfully improved somewhat. Hatchards is now pleased to be able to offer a limited edition reproduction of this poster. Only 1,000 of this item have been printed. Unfortunately, the effects of inflation in the intervening period mean that we cannot sell it at the original price of 6d per dozen.
